Counting past 10s and 100s we already gain some exposure to a concept called place value. Place value can be defined as the digit's location within a number. For example, the number 143 has 3 in the 'ones' place, the number 4 in the 'tens' place and 1 in the 'hundreds' place. Understanding place value supports learning the basic arithmetic.
